Hey, I'm Nimna Perera
I am professionally a Senior Software Engineer at 99X, Sri Lanka and a proud Graduate from Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa. I am an aspiring individual who enjoys connecting the dots: be it ideas from different disciplines, people from different teams, or applications from different industries. I have strong technical skills and an academic background in the field of information technology.
My passion lies in solving business problems with tailored data and algorithms and communicating complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders. That's where Kannys Lab came into life as a solution maker for existing problems in the current business context.
During my undergraduate years, secondary studies and further beyond also, I’ve taken on various leadership roles. That includes leading Professional Development, Organization Developement and Digital Service avenues as an Assistant District Rotaract Representative for the years 2023-24 at Rotaract District Steering Committee in RID 3220, leading FIT INTECS as the President of the society, leading Mora FOSS Community and Mora Mozilla Campus Club as the Club Lead, and a few other Director and Vice president roles in various clubs as well. If you catch me outside of my academics or work, I'm a traveler who loves traveling, hiking, and trekking inside and outside the country also!

Currently working as a Senior Software Engineer in the company, while solving buisness critical problems that occur when developing softwares, while meeting customer and company expectations.
Responsibilities (Amili SEND):Amili SEND is an automated financial document distribution system that operates as a workflow engine with a user-friendly interface for tracking each step in the distribution process. It currently serves businesses in Norway and Sweden, ensuring efficient and secure handling of financial communications.
- Worked as a Full Stack Developer on the cloud-native migration project, responsible for migrating the entire system—including infrastructure and application components—from a legacy monolith to a microservices-based architecture on Microsoft Azure.
- CDesigned and implemented cloud-native solutions using Terraform, containerized services, and modern architectural principles to ensure scalability, maintainability, and high availability.
- Groomed and restructured existing legacy features into microservices, ensuring smooth migration and integration into the new architecture.
- Participated in Kanban agile methodology, contributing to story grooming, sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
- Actively contributed in cross-functional meetings, including discussions with Product Owners, Sales, and Operations teams, for feature demos, requirement clarification, and prioritization.
- Delivered feature demos to stakeholders to validate progress and gather feedback throughout the development cycle.
- Supported both backend and frontend feature development, aligning with the overall system architecture and migration goals.
Boligmappa is a system which was developed with the purpose of maintaining documentations of all kind of properties. And over the period it has evolved into an eco system which provides related services in this domain as well.
- Worked as a Backend developer for the "Professionals" subdomain, inside the business domain.
- Carry out several DevOps tasks and experience in real world use cases. (AWS, Jenkins, Docker and etc.)
- Implementing and Develop features with Microservices Architecture along with GRPC as the communication medium.

Flowyzer is a system which provides precision-measure and enhance engineering flow of software engineering teams by quntifying their experience. This system provides measures from verious aspects such as Lead Time, Productivity, Team Health, Security and etc.
- Worked as the BI engineer in the team.
- As the BI engineer, generating intelligence from raw data and making sure the quality representation of Data.
- Extensively used features of PostgreSQL and Metabase to represent the data in an intelligent form.
- Utilize and Customize, ChartJS for Chart representations.
Completed the internship as a member of team “PicaSix”. PicaSix is a web-based application which handles complete product manufacturing process for Adventure Sports Equipments from various productions along with the supply chain between several other entities such as production, importers, exportes, wholesale users and end users.
Responsibilities:- Full stack software development using Angular Hybrid (Angular + AngularJS), JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch
- A comprehensive background study and a feasibility study on WYSIWYG Editors which can be implemented for Shopify enabled products in the system.
- Accoding to the findings of the study, implement the most feasible WYSIWYG editor, TinyMCE in PicaSix
- Increased the Unit test coverage of the Warehouse module by 4% by writing unit tests for multiple models, services, and endpoints files that are relevant to the warehouse module
- Experience in Scrum activities and communicating with Product Owner and client for requirement gathering, customizations and technical walk-throughs.
Worked as Asscoiate Image Processing Member by annotating images for training a AI driven self-driving software.
Responsibilities:- Anotating a image set called High Low Beam (HLB). In High Low Beam images, vehicle head lights, vehicle tail lights, street lights, signal lights, and etc. are annotated which are used for guiding the vehicle in low light conditions. (Night/Dawn)

Research Projects
This platform allows the users to upload their prepared resumes and based upon those inputs, feedback and content improvement recommendations will be given to the undergraduates such as the content quality, content relevance, and design. Also, the system recommends a list of interview questions to match the skills and experiences mentioned in the resume. [FULL THESIS]
Technical Projects
An open source npm package to upload media and other types of files directly into AWS S3 Bucket for react typescript template. Using this npm library users can upload, retrieve the public URL for the file, list all the files of the S3 bucket and delete the files when needed.

Internship Tracking System enables simple and efficient tracking of internship availability and confirmation. 3rd year Undergraduates of the Faculty of Information Technology go through their internship program as the inaugural step of their professional life as Software Engineers.
Since the batch consists of considerable number of students, the process of monitoring each student's internship is obviously hard. As future developers, it's not the practice to leave any problem unattended. Hence, the internship tracking system comes out as a solution. It will allow each student to maintain a profile showcasing their talents and specialties and the companies will be able to maintain an easy recruitment process. The students will be able to notify their availability for the internships and further confirmations of internships. This system will drive a serious process into a more reliable and a convenient path.

Manusath Handa (Voice of Humanity) is a project that aimed at resolving the lack of educational resources for visually impaired students in Sri Lanka by providing supplementary resources in audio format. In regard to Manusath Handa project, This contributors portal was developed in order to simplify the process of recording and collecting audio books for the project.
Volunteers can reserve chapters, record audio books and upload it to the server and Admins from project can review and accept those uploaded recordings using this platform.

The latest addition to the club’s digitizing revolution is ‘LinkR’, a digital membership management application allowing computerized contribution tracking during projects and online project task bidding.

Voluntary & Other Activities
Rotaract in RID3220 (Sri Lanka and Maldives)
Rotaract is a global youth movement that stems from Rotary International. Rotaract District in RID 3220 is the administrative body of all the Rotaract Clubs island-wide and is headed by the District Rotaract Representative (DRR).
As one of the Assistant District Rotaract Representative for the years 2023-24, I was overlooking Professional Development, Organization Development, and Digital Service avenues. During my tenure, I was able to lead the three teams while achiveing some great milestones.
Some of those great milestones are,
- 33rd Rotaract District Conference - The 33rd Rotaract District Conference, was held on the 18th of February, 2023 at the Temple Trees, Sri Lanka under theme, "Youth for all", which consisted with three subthemes, "Youth for Governance, Youth for Growth & Youth for Technology"
- One Rotaract - One Rotaract mobile app is designed with the purpose of connecting all the Rotaractors in the district together and sharing the necessary information through using the innovation.
While I was volunteering as one of the Joint directors in Digital communication services, We were able to uplift clubs digitally by providing guidance to strive. Our main task as the directors was to maintain Rotaract Management Information System (RMIS) which manages all the reporting tasks in Rotaract in RID3220.
Apart from that, we introduced numerous platforms to reduce paperwork from event registrations to collaborative gaming platforms. The followings are a list of systems and platforms that we introduced newly to the Rotaract context.
- 31st Rotaract District Assembly Platform - For managing registrations and streming of 31st Rotaract District Assembly, this platform was created using Angular and Firebase.
- Are we there yet (Collaborative gaming platform) - To increase the engagement between Rotaractors from various areas of the country during the COVID-19 outbreak period.
- 31st Rotaract District Conference Registration Platform - This platform was created for managing the contact-less check-in process of the 31st Rotaract District Conference which was held under the theme, "A Progressive Youth, Co-creating Sri Lanka"
INTECS - Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa
INTECS is the main student society in the Faculty of IT, University of Moratuwa which mainly focused on the knowledge and career development of the faculty undergraduates. It was established in 2002, aiming to build awareness about the field of IT among fresh graduates and expose them to unique IT-related opportunities within and beyond the Sri Lankan IT industry.

Rotaract Mora is about serving our kind and the living as a whole, exploring new territory, creating opportunities, and building future leaders. Nurtured by the dynamics of one of the leading technical universities in Sri Lanka, we strive to provide sustainable and novel solutions to societal and environmental issues
During the year 2021-22 I was responsible for overlooking Digital Communcation in the club, which consits with PR and IT. Key highlights in PR and IT under my leadership are as follows.
At the 32nd Rotaract District Training Assembly, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa was able to win awards for,
- Gold Award - Most Outstanding Effort of Utilizing Digital Communications Technologies of the year 2021-22
- Silver Award - Most Outstanding overall Public Image Effort of a Club of the year 2021-22

Mora FOSS Community is an initiative to build a platform for tech enthusiasts to raise awareness about Free and Open Source Software.

Mora Hiking Club is one of the leading clubs in the University of Moratuwa. As its Website is outdated, Club has decided to come up with a modern and better solution with some new extra features. And the first release of the website has released on 20th November 2019.
